 Close to Marseille, the second biggest town in France , only about 30 km to the east, lies a lovely little port named Cassis. There are no charteryachts available from here, but if you charter your boat from Marseille or La Ciotat or another port nearby, you surely will not miss this port and it´s bays called Les Calanques, which are very close and give you an impression of nature´s forming powers! |

With
a nice harbour, that is extended with places in summer with swimming
pontoons for visiting yachts, and of course many restaurants, one can
stay here, if he survives the masses, that enjoy the atmosphere of
this port. Some take a walk away from portside and enjoy the small
narrow
streets around or climb up to the higher areas of the village, from
where you can have a wonderful view to the bay as seen here. If you have the opportunity to take a car, or a bike, drive up to the top of the mountain following the signs "Route des Cretes". You will get gorgeous views to the western part as here and to ther eastern bay of La Ciotat and St.Cyr sur mer! |

Cassis there are excursion-boats going to visit and let you see
the famous bays called "Les Calanques", which are under nature-preservation
and can´t
be visited by walking in the summertime! The time needed is between
45 and 120 minutes.  The next places to go from Cassis by sailingboat are the bays of Les Calanques or La Ciotat |
